KEHV establishes Goalie Centre of Excellence

Following successful training courses for goalie coaches, the Carinthian Ice Hockey Association is taking the next step by establishing its own KEHV Goalie Centre of Excellence in Steindorf. From September, it will offer a comprehensive programme under the direction of Patrick Machreich, a recognised expert in goalie training.

In order to counter the current decline in the number of goalies in Carinthian ice hockey, the development of young goalies at clubs is being intensified. As not all clubs can afford to include a dedicated goalie coach on their coaching staff, the new Goalie Centre of Excellence is aimed in particular at head coaches, who will receive sound basic training in order to best support and guide goalies at regional league clubs. A well-designed modular system will teach essential aspects of goalie development in order to fully unlock the potential of young talents.

For junior and senior goalies

In addition, junior and senior goalies will receive a special hour of intensive goalie training every Friday. The highly qualified coaching team led by Patrick Machreich will ensure the targeted development and improvement of the goalies' individual skills.

The overarching aim of the KEHV Goalie Centre of Excellence is to ensure that Carinthian teams continue to have talented and superbly trained goalies in the future. Patrick Machreich and those responsible at KEHV are firmly committed to sustainably strengthening the goalie sector and ensuring that no challenge remains unresolved.
