Last February, Julia Kainberger worked as a linesperson at the Olympic Games in Beijing, fulfilling a lifelong dream that unfortunately remained out of reach for her as a player.
She will be back on the ice at the World Championship in Denmark, this time as a referee. She can still watch the opening matchday in a relaxed manner, before her own tournament begins.
The World Championship features two groups at the venues in Herning and Frederikshavn, with another Austrian, Christiane Loinig-Velik, on site as Medical Supervisor.
Last year, Canada triumphed in front of a home crowd, followed by the USA and Finland. With eleven World Championship titles, Canada also hold the record.
