KAC strengthen with Cijan

Record Austrian ice hockey champions EC-KAC have, on the final day of the transfer period in the ICE Hockey League, expanded their squad by no fewer than eight players in order to have greater depth during the coronavirus pandemic. The most prominent new signing is forward Alexander Cijan, who joins Klagenfurt from league rivals Vienna Capitals.

For the 26-year-old, it is a return to his former club, having been developed by EC-KAC before making the move to Sweden in 2010. The EC-KAC roster, now 39 players strong, also includes six new farm team players in Christoph Tialler, Simon Hammerle, Fabian Hochegger, Rok Kapel, Valentin Ploner and Finn van Ee, as well as long-term injured defenceman David Fischer.

The EC Red Bull Salzburg have strengthened their team once again shortly before the decisive phase of the championship. Stefan Espeland (NOR) and Alexander Urbom (SWE) – both of whom most recently played in the PENNY DEL – bring two experienced Scandinavian defencemen to the Red Bulls.
