KAC seal repeat of final against EC Red Bull Salzburg

The deciding game was also not for the faint-hearted. Initially, the defensive units of both teams once again dominated proceedings, meaning it took until the 37th minute for the first goal of the game to be scored. Raphael Herburger deflected a shot from Jasper Jensen Aabo beyond the reach of the goaltender – a goal that had not been on the cards at that point.

The score remained 1:0 to the hosts until the 53rd minute, when Nick Petersen extended the lead to 2:0 with a precise power-play shot. It was already the Canadian's 29th postseason goal for Klagenfurt. Raphael Wolf had previously been penalised for high-sticking.

In the closing minutes, Linz missed the chance to get back into the game after Brian Lebler took a penalty. Although Linz goaltender Rasmus Tirronen left the ice in favour of an additional skater, the visitors could not find a way back into the game. Linz therefore lost a Game Seven for only the second time. KAC, meanwhile, won a decisive seventh game for only the second time.
