KAC Para Eishockey begin with two opening wins against Graz99ers Para Eishockey

Defending champions KAC Para Eishockey began the new season with two wins against Graz99ers Para Eishockey. The Red Jackets celebrated a convincing 8:1 win in Saturday's opener. The second match in the traditional Sunday matinée was much more closely contested, with Klagenfurt ultimately prevailing narrowly by 4:2.

This year, champions Carinthian Steelers Klagenfurt take to the ice as KAC Para Eishockey and Steirische Panther Graz take to the ice as Graz99ers Para Eishockey. On Saturday afternoon, the hosts demonstrated who will be the team to beat for the title in the new season, too. Klagenfurt claimed a clear 8:1 victory, with Sandro Kalegaris the player of the game after scoring five goals and adding two further assists.

On Sunday, at the traditional Sunday matinée time of 10:30, Graz had the opportunity for revenge and challenged Klagenfurt from the outset. Werner Winkler gave the visitors an early 1:0 lead, but KAC responded with an equaliser from Alfred Laibacher. The score was 1:1 after the first period. In the second period, KAC Para Eishockey made it 2:1 through prolific scorer Sandro Kalegaris.

The match remained exciting, with Graz99ers Para Eishockey player-coach Michael Sauer initially levelling the score at 2:2 on the power play in the final period. Once again, Sandro Kalegaris put the hosts on the road to victory with the 3:2. Timo Ropp sealed the result at 4:2 with just under four minutes remaining.

The next double-header takes place at the start of December

The two teams have six double-header matchdays, comprising a total of twelve games, to play in the regular season until mid-February, with KAC Para Eishockey and Graz99ers Para Eishockey each hosting two home games in one weekend, before the title is decided in a best-of-three final.

The remaining double-headers will take place on 07 and 08 December 2024, shortly before Christmas on 21 and 22 December 2024, on 04 and 05 January 2025, on 25 and 26 January 2025, and on 15 and 16 February 2025.
