Inter­na­tional flavour at the 3x3 tour­na­ment in Vorarl­berg

Getting children into ice hockey is the top priority for ÖEHV, the regional associations and, of course, all clubs. A key component is PEER – Programme for the Development of Ice Hockey Regions. Special offers and programmes tailored specifically to kindergartens are being implemented in various federal states.

The 3x3 tournament now being held in Vorarlberg is a further stage in the development of the PEER project. As part of the IIHF's Growing the Game Fund, which promotes and supports strategic programmes, ÖEHV applied together with Switzerland in order to make this tournament possible.

Martin Örtle and Michael Schurig are taking the lead in implementing the project on site and have put together an interesting programme together with ÖEHV.

On Saturday evening, coaching and mentoring will take place first, followed by a parents' evening. The Swiss association will also give a presentation.

Sunday will then be all about the 3x3 tournament, with each team able to name 9 players plus 2 goaltenders on the game sheet.

Florian Mühlstein, Head of Youth Training and Development: “The children play in a tried-and-tested format. There is plenty of movement, and the children spend little time standing still. The focus is on ensuring that the children enjoy ice hockey, get to know and understand the game, and simply spend as much time on the ice as possible. A big thank you goes to our colleagues at the Swiss association, who played an active part in the application and organisation, to VEHV, and above all to Martin Örtle and Michael Schurig, who are leading the organisation of this tournament.”
