IIHF mandates neck protection for all IIHF categories
On the recommendation of the Medical Committee, the IIHF Council has decided to mandate the use of neck protection specifically designed for this purpose at all levels of IIHF competition. Neck protection is now also mandatory for senior categories, in addition to the U20 and U18 categories, for which it was already required under the official IIHF rule book.

The exact timing of this mandate coming into force for the senior categories will depend on supply availability. The IIHF remains in close contact with its suppliers to ensure that they are able to meet the current high demand.
Until the rule officially comes into force, the IIHF strongly recommends that all players taking part in IIHF competitions wear neck and throat protection.

How quickly we succeed depends on the suppliers, who are currently struggling to keep up with production due to the high demand.”
