IIHF Assignments: Austrian referees in demand internationally
Our top referees will be in action across all age groups and at almost every major event in the coming months. Simon Riecken, for example, will be at the World Junior Championship in Sweden over the New Year period, while Julia Kainberger will officiate at the Women’s World Championship in the USA as well as the U18 World Championship in Switzerland.

Whether U18, U20 or senior level, Top Division, Division IA, IB, IIA, IIB or Olympic qualification, our Austrian referees are in action across Europe and around the world. The most closely watched events will likely be the U20 World Championship in Gothenburg, the U18 World Championship in Finland, as well as the Women’s World Championship in the USA and the U18 Women’s World Championship in Switzerland.
A total of 14 referees have been nominated for the same number of major events. Julia Kainberger can even celebrate two referee nominations: for the Top Division Women’s World Championship and the Top Division U18 Women’s World Championship.
