Ice hockey calendar: Austria’s World Cham­pi­onship appear­ances in the 2024/2025 season

Austria’s para ice hockey national team opened the new World Championship season in November at the Pool C World Championship in Bangkok (THA), organised by the IPC (International Paralympic Committee), and won the bronze medal. Austria’s U20 men’s national ice hockey team finished second at the U20 World Championship Division IA in Bled (SLO) and ultimately missed out on promotion by a single goal.

Austria’s U18 women’s national ice hockey team was back in action at the U18 World Championship Division IA at the start of January and unfortunately had to be relegated to Division IB.

Austria’s women’s national ice hockey team competed at the World Championship Division IA in Shenzen (CHN) in April 2025, recorded five wins and earned promotion to the top division for the first time in history.

Austria’s U18 men’s national ice hockey team played in the U18 World Championship Division I, Group A in Szekesfehervar and was relegated to Division IB.

The highlight of the season was the World Championship in Sweden and Denmark in May 2025, where Austria’s men’s national ice hockey team played in Group A in Stockholm and sensationally reached the quarter-finals. In the end, they finished eighth, their best World Championship result since 1994.
