Dylan Guenther was Canada's match-winner in front of 10.735 fans at Halifax's Scotiabank Centre. The winger scored the winning goal to make it 3:2 after exactly 66:22 minutes of three-on-three overtime, following an exciting final against Czechia, who were competing for the gold medals for the first time since 2001.

Guenther had already put the hosts 1:0 ahead on the power play in the first period, before Shane Wright made it 2:0 in the second. Czechia stormed back into the game in the third period with two goals from Jiri Kulich and Jakup Kos within 54 seconds, before Guenther secured the title defence in overtime following the home triumph in August 2022.

Bronze for the USA

In the third-place play-off, the USA beat Sweden 8:7 after overtime following a goal fest. Chaz Lucius was the player of the game, becoming the USA's hero of the evening with the overtime winner and three goals in total.
