Head Coach Roger Bader increases squad to 28 players
Three goalkeepers and 25 skaters – as announced, Head Coach Roger Bader is expanding the squad to five lines in the second week of World Championship preparations. The team will meet in Innsbruck on Sunday and take to the ice for the first time. Florian Vorauer, David Maier, Philipp Wimmer, Raphael Herburger, Lukas Kainz, Nikolaus Kraus, Armin Preiser and Simeon Schwinger will join the team in Tyrol, while David Reinbacher and Thimo Nickl are ruled out through injuries. Austria will play two friendlies against Italy on Wednesday at 20:00 in Bruneck (ITA) and on Friday at 17:30 in Innsbruck, live on LIVE.eishockey.at, with commentary from Michael Berger.

“We are working with a rolling plan, with new players joining from camp to camp and others subsequently dropping out. It was planned from the outset that we would increase to 25 skaters this week, as we will be playing two friendlies per week going forward,” explains Head Coach Roger Bader.
As planned, Raphael Herburger is now involved, along with KAC players Vorauer, Maier, Kraus and Schwinger. Lukas Kainz and Armin Preiser of spusu Vienna Capitals, as well as Philipp Wimmer of EC Red Bull Salzburg, also join the squad. David Reinbacher and Thimo Nickl are ruled out with minor injuries. “They will not be involved this week and possibly the week after as well,” said Roger Bader. Senna Peeters and Maximilian Rebernig are also absent through injury.
Italy are the upcoming friendly opponents, away in Bruneck on 12 April at 20:00 and in Innsbruck on Friday, 14 April at 17:30. Both matches will be streamed on LIVE.eishockey.at. Week 3 will then see the team travel to Germany to face Germany.
