Head Coach Bröms calls up 23 women for World Cham­pi­onship prepa­ra­tion

In 30 days, Austria's women's national ice hockey team will open its Division IA World Championship campaign against Norway in Shenzhen (CHN). Due to the travel restrictions and testing requirements related to COVID19 that were still in place in spring, the World Championship was postponed from April to August. Head Coach Alexander Bröms has named a 23-player squad for the preparation camp, which begins in Klagenfurt on 2 August. On 4 and 5 August, the team will play two friendly internationals against Italy, live on LIVE.eishockey.at.

From 20 to 26 August, Austria will compete against Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, China and Slovakia for promotion to the top division. Norway, the Netherlands and Slovakia are already familiar opponents from last year's tournament. Having narrowly missed out on promotion to the top division in 2022, the aim is to achieve it this year.

Preparation begins for Head Coach Alexander Bröms' team in Klagenfurt on 2 August. During this first week, the team will still be without Anna Meixner and Selma Luggin, who are both training with their clubs in Sweden and will join the squad for the departure to China on 12 August.

Alexander Bröms: "This is our final preparation camp before we leave for China. We are trying to make the final adjustments in order to be as well prepared as possible. The entire focus is on ourselves and on what we can control. Over time, we have worked on the ‘Austrian DNA’, which will now help us give our best!"
