EC Graz Huskies celebrated their first victory in the win2day AWHL. Following their opening defeat against Lakers Kärnten, the Styrians prevailed 3:1 over Salzburg Eagles, who were playing their first game in the AWHL.
The Huskies built a 2:0 lead within the opening eight minutes before the Eagles pulled one back in the middle period. However, Graz restored their two-goal advantage in the same period to make it 3:1, which proved to be the final score.
The game between Lakers Kärnten and KSV Highlanders on Sunday got off to a lively start. Valentina Ropatsch gave the home side the lead in the seventh minute, and just two minutes later the forward made it 2:1 for Lakers Kärnten. Hilde Huisman had earlier levelled the score at 1:1 (8th minute/PP1). Both defences then settled down, and it was not until the 35th minute that Nina Rainer scored another equaliser for KSV Highlanders.
The visitors fell behind again in the 39th minute, but levelled the score for the third time at the start of the final period. Just a few seconds later, Sara Confidenti fired the Highlanders into the lead for the first time that afternoon. With the Lakers unable to find a response, the team from Kapfenberg eventually edged it 4:3.
