Friendly against US college – next step towards home World Championship
Women’s Head Coach Alexander Bröms has called up 25 players for the team camp between Christmas and New Year. The team will play two friendlies against NCAA III US college Middlebury on 29 December in Kitzbühel and 30 December in Innsbruck.

The Swedish-based players are absent from the 25 players called up, as the Swedish league continues to play between Christmas and New Year. Also not attending this team camp are the prospects who are simultaneously preparing with the U18 national team for the upcoming U18 World Championship Division IA in Egna (ITA) in January.
However, Head Coach Alexander Bröms has several North America-based players at his disposal. They need to be integrated quickly, brought up to date with the national team and introduced to the system. On 29 and 30 December, the team will play two friendlies against NCAA III side US college Middlebury Panthers.
General Manager Martin Kogler: "On the one hand, this team camp is an opportunity for certain players to make a case for themselves for the home World Championship in April. On the other, the aim is to quickly integrate the North America-based players, who are otherwise not available to us, into our system. Middlebury College can be considered similarly strong to Gustavus Adolphus College, whom we played a year ago. The Middlebury Panthers are among the stronger teams in NCAA III, and I expect two good, close games."
Home World Championship Division IA 2024
From 21 to 27 April 2024, Klagenfurt will host the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women´s World Championship 2024. Austria will face Hungary, France, Norway, the Netherlands and South Korea for promotion to the Top Division. Following 2009 and 2017, it will be the third Women’s World Championship on Austrian ice.
