Four-Nations Tour­na­ment in Kranj: Austria's U16 national team loses to Italy

Austria had the first power play of the opening game but were unable to use this numerical advantage to take the lead. Italy then struck twice to establish a two-goal advantage: Lutz Prast scored for 1:0 (13th minute), and just 43 seconds later Alex Abram made it 2:0 for the Squadra Azzurra (14th minute).

In the second period, the Red-White-Red had their first penalty kill, during which Italy extended their lead to 3:0 through Pietro Trenti (28th minute). Their penalty killing was better during a further 4:5 disadvantage, with the ÖEHV selection conceding no further goals, and Italy led 3:0 after 40 minutes.

Austria took two further penalties right at the start of the final period, making a possible comeback more difficult in the opening minutes. Although the Austrians successfully killed both penalties, Italy struck again through David Bertignoll (50th minute), with the 4:0 proving decisive for head coach Roberto Scelfo's team in this match.

Austria were unable to turn the game around, successfully negotiated two further penalty kills – including one minute at 3:5 – and were also unable to convert a power play into a goal.
