Four Nations Tour­na­ment: Austria's U18 women suffer defeat against Italy

Austria's U18 women's national ice hockey team faced Italy in their final game at the Four Nations Tournament in Spittal an der Drau. After taking a 1:0 lead, the ÖEHV side ultimately lost 1:4. The Austrians finished the home tournament in fourth and last place with one point from three games.

The team coached by Head Coach Mario BellinaAustria took the lead at the Eishalle unter dem Goldeck in the first period through Katharina Stieger to make it 1:0 in the 16th minute. After the equaliser in the second period, the Italians stepped things up considerably in the final period, adding three further goals to seal a 4:1 victory. 

Germany's U18 team won the tournament in Upper Carinthia. The DEB side won all three games against Austria, Italy and Hungary and took first place with the maximum nine points, ahead of Italy (6), Hungary (2) and Austria (1).

The tournament in the town on the Lieser marked the start of preparations for the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship Division IA. The date and venue have yet to be confirmed. At the World Championship, Austria will face Germany, Italy, Hungary, France and Norway.

The Four Nations Tournament is an agreement between the four nations and will be held until 2026. Austria is the host this year, Italy next year, and Hungary will host in 2026.
