After a 3:3 scoreline after 60 minutes and a scoreless overtime period, the clash between Minnesota Wild and the Los Angeles Kings – after Minnesota had squandered a 3:0 lead – was decided in the shootout in front of 17.102 fans at Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul: Rossi superbly lifted the puck over Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper's glove into the top-right corner in the shootout, making him the only player to score for either side.

In regulation time, the centre forward set up Jared Spurgeon's power-play goal to make it 1:0 to his team in the first period.

The ÖEHV forward spent a total of 18:44 minutes on the ice and had one shot on goal. After three games of the new season, Rossi already has four points – one goal and three assists.

Marco Kasper and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3:2, but he did not register a point. The Klagenfurt native played 16:02 minutes, delivered two hits but did not have a shot on goal.
