ÖEHV forward Marco Kasper scored his first goal of the season in only his second NHL game. The Klagenfurt native made it 1:2 in the second period of the Detroit Red Wings’ 6:3 home win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in front of 19.515 fans at Little Caesars Arena. Marco Rossi recorded his second assist point in Minnesota Wild’s 4:7 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After Marco Rossi against the St. Louis Blues Marco Kasper also scored his first goal of the new NHL season early in the campaign. The centre sparked the Red Wings’ comeback after they fell 0:2 behind against Toronto in the second period. The 21-year-old scored at the 29 mark, taking a pass from Patrick Kane and firing a snap shot from the right face-off circle into the near top corner.
Detroit ultimately won the game 6:3, with Kasper recording 18 shifts, 13:49 minutes of ice time and four shots on goal. Lucas Raymond, who scored twice to register his 100th NHL goal, and Patrick Kane, who had one goal and two assists, were the key figures in the first win of the season.
Marco Rossi, who had already recorded a goal and an assist in the opener against the St. Louis Blues, registered his second assist point of the season in Minnesota Wild’s 4:7 home defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets in front of 18.836 fans at Grand Casino Arena.
The Vorarlberg native logged 19:21 minutes of ice time and had three shots on goal. On the power play in the final period, he played a sharp pass to Kirill Kaprizov, who deflected it to make it 4:6. Kirill Marchenko, with his fourth NHL hat-trick, and netminder Elvis Merzlikins, who made 48 saves, were the standout performers for Columbus.
