Finland's first medal at a home World Championship shines gold! The hosts of the Ice Hockey World Championship beat Canada 4:3 after overtime in the final (0:0, 0:1, 3:2, 1:0).

This sees the Finns crowned in 2022 as both Olympic champions and world champions in __OEHV_NUM_D_A__ – previously, only Sweden had achieved that in 2006.
After a scoreless first period, Dylan Cozens puts Canada ahead on the power play in the 24th minute.
Finland have to wait until the final period for the equaliser. On a 5-on-3 power play, Mikael Granlund scores two power-play goals in the 45th and 46th minutes to turn the game in the hosts' favour. Canadiens forward Joel Armia appears to seal the outcome with his goal in the 55th minute.
Zach Whitecloud's goal with 132 seconds remaining makes things exciting again in the 58th minute, before Maxime Comtois scores the equaliser just 48 seconds later in the 59th minute to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Thomas Chabot is sent to the penalty box for hooking after 5:36. Sakari Manninen fires the hosts to gold with his sixth goal of the tournament (67th minute/PP).
The final in Tampere is the third consecutive final between Finland and Canada: in 2019, "Suomi" also prevailed (3:1), followed by the "Maple Leafs" last year (3:2).
Bronze goes to the Czechs, who prevailed 8:4 against the USA in a thrilling bronze-medal game.
