Final win over Graz 99 Juniors: KAC crowned ÖEHV U13 League cham­pions

Following the weekend, the ÖEHV U13 League title clash between EC KAC and Graz 99 Juniors stood at 1:1. The Carinthians won the opening game in Graz 5:3 on Saturday. On Sunday, the Styrians levelled the series with a 6:2 win, also at Graz’s Merkur Eisstadion.

On Tuesday, the two opponents met for the ultimate showdown at the Heidi-Horten-Arena. The visitors from the Styrian capital took the lead through Leo Oswald after twelve minutes, making it 1:0. Shortly before the end of the first period, Klagenfurt capitalised on a power play through Maurice Wadel to make it 1:1 after 19 minutes.

In the second period, Philipp Kogelnig gave KAC the lead for the first time that evening with his goal to make it 2:1. Once again, the Red Jackets struck late in the period: Benedikt Wutte extended the lead to 3:1 in the 39th minute. There were no further goals in the final period as KAC secured the 2022/2023 title. For KAC, it is their second youth title this season following the U18 championship.

VSV Blau secure third place

VSV Blau claimed third place. Their Best-of-Three series against Vienna Capitals Schwarz was also level at 1:1 after the weekend. Villach had beaten the Caps 4:2 at the Villacher Stadthalle on Saturday, before Vienna levelled the series a day later with a 5:4 shootout win.

On Tuesday, VSV Blau’s players beat Vienna Capitals 7:4 away from home (3:2,4:1,0:1) to win the bronze medal.
