In their fourth game at Ferlach Ice Arena, Head Coach Tomáš Kala’s team trailed Poland 0:2 after the first period following goals from Emilia Stankiewicz (6th) and Malgorzata Zakrzewska, who scored shorthanded (16th). Karolina Gawandtka made it 3:0 in the 37th minute before Austria reduced the deficit to 1:3 through Marion Petritz (40th).

However, just seven seconds later, Poland restored their three-goal lead through Malgorzata Zakrzewska. In the final period, the ÖEHV selection reduced the deficit to 2:4 through Amelie Suppan in the 42nd minute (42nd minute).

Once again, the joy over the goal did not last long: Emilia Stankiewicz scored to make it 5:2 just 49 seconds later, quickly ending Red-White-Red’s hopes of a comeback. Karolina Gawandtka completed the scoring for Poland at 6:2 (49th).

Following the 0:9 defeat against Slovakia, the 2:3 overtime defeat against France and the 0:5 loss against Germany, Austria remain on one point after four games. Hungary celebrated a narrow 2:1 win against Germany on Saturday, while Slovakia also beat France 2:1.
