Emphatic opening win for SC Hohenems against HC Innsbruck - Die Haie II
The goal festival in the Ö Eishockey Liga continues! SC SAMINA Hohenems concluded the first matchday in the West Group with a 10:1 win over HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie II.

Title contenders SC SAMINA Hohenems got off to a winning start at the Herrenriedstadion in wonderful weather and temperatures of around 20 degrees against HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie II in glorious weather and temperatures of around __OEHV_NUM_E_A__ degrees.
Head Coach Bernd Schmidle’s team only had problems with the boldly playing Innsbruck side in the opening eleven minutes, with the latter already well into their U20 championship campaign. Thomas Auer broke the deadlock in the twelfth minute and sparked a Hohenems avalanche of goals over the remaining eight minutes of the first period.
Martin Grabher Meier made it 2:0 for the Vorarlberg side exactly three minutes after the opener. Just 18 seconds later, Thomas Auer struck again to make it 3:0, beating Innsbruck goaltender Markus Gratzer for the second time on this glorious autumn day in Hohenems. Marcel Wolf and Johannes Hehle gave their side a comfortable 5:0 lead late in the first period with two goals in 55 seconds.
The hosts took a little pace out of the game in the second period. Innsbruck scored their first goal on the rebound following a counter-attack through Marcus Massimo. The Steinböcke then regained control and added two more goals in 54 seconds, with Lukas Fritz making it 6:1 and Johannes Hehle adding the 7:1.
The Vorarlberg side's appetite for goals was not yet satisfied in the final period. Julian Grafschafter scored twice in succession to make it 9:1 for SC Hohenems. Lukas Fritz made the score double figures for the hosts with his second goal three and a half minutes from time. Vorarlberg eventually won 10:1 and are top of the West Group after the first matchday.
On Saturday, HC Kufstein Dragons had already sensationally beaten champions WSG Swarovski Wattens - Penguins 6:2 after trailing 0:2, thanks to a rampant middle period. EHC Crocodiles Kundl narrowly defeated VEU Feldkirch 3:1.
In the North-East Group, Kapfenberger SV celebrated an emphatic 11:1 win over WEV. The UHT Dukes Graz - leaders after the first matchday - suffered a __OEHV_NUM_AC_A__ defeat at home to EV Zeltweg - Murtal Lions suffer a 1:5 defeat. The ATSE Graz won away to the Sharks Gmunden 3:1.
