EK Die Zeller Eisbären celebrate Alps Hockey League derby win over Adler Kitzbühel
KHL Sisak and EK Die Zeller Eisbären moved above the idle Red Bull Hockey Juniors with their wins and, at least until Saturday, form the new leading duo. While the team from Zell narrowly prevailed 3:2 in the derby against Kitzbühel, the Croatians celebrated a commanding away win in Merano. HDD Jesenice also recorded a narrow victory over the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers.

EK Die Zeller Eisbären celebrated a 3:2 derby win over Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, moving up to second place in the table – level on points with leaders Sisak. In front of 2.796 spectators, the opening period remained scoreless. The visitors from Kitzbühel took the lead on the power play in the second period. However, a quick-fire double from Zell in the same period turned the game around. Kitzbühel fought back and equalised at the start of the final period. With four minutes remaining, Alexander Lahoda finally sealed the win for Zell with the game-winning goal, allowing them to claim their third derby victory as well.
KHL Sisak celebrated a commanding away win over HC Meran and can enjoy top spot in the table – at least until Saturday. The Croatians made a considerably better start and were already 2:0 ahead after just over ten minutes. HC Meran did pull one back in the opening period, but Marijus Dumcius restored the two-goal lead with his second goal of the evening. Vilim Rosandic and Sisak's defence subsequently saw out the lead comfortably and withstood a spell of pressure from Meran.
HDD Jesenice defeated the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers 3:2 on Thursday evening. The Slovenian hosts made a considerably better start and were 2:0 ahead after just over three minutes, before extending their lead to 3:0 at one stage in the second period. Hockey Unterland then launched a comeback and reduced the deficit to 2:3 by the 50-minute mark. The Cavaliers pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages but were unable to beat goaltender Matija Ulcar again. With this win, Jesenice remain in touch with the top-10 teams.
