EC VSV clinch Austrian championship title in the ÖEHV U17 Championship
The next youth title goes to the city on the Drava: EC VSV's U17 team won the fourth final against Eishockey Akademie Steiermark convincingly 7:0 at Villacher Stadthalle, sealing a 3:1 victory in the best-of-five series to become the new Austrian champions in the ÖEHV U17 Championship.

Head Coach Robert Moser's team narrowly won the first final in Graz on Saturday, 3:2. The Styrians hit back on Sunday, claiming a 5:4 victory in the second home game. On Wednesday, the young blue-and-whites secured their first opportunity to clinch the championship with a convincing 7:2, which VSV converted in Villach on Thursday with a 7:0 home win.
After just 44 seconds, Joc Bukovec made it 1:0 for the hosts, who extended their lead to 2:0 through Jonas Köfler just under four minutes later (5th minute). Four minutes before the end of the period, Joc Bukovec scored his second goal to make it 3:0 (16th minute).
In the second period, Jakob Sintschnig sealed the outcome with a double after the halfway point of the game (at 34 minutes) and on the power play (at 38 minutes). Luca Fischer added the 6:0 for the Draustädter before the second intermission (at 39 minutes).
Just under four minutes into the final period, Joc Bukovec capped his outstanding performance by making it 7:0 with his third goal of the evening (45.). VSV netminder Nicolas Gritznig recorded a shutout in this crucial match. In the end, EC VSV’s U17 side won 7:0, claimed the series 3:1 and are Austrian champions of the ÖEHV U17 Championship 2023/2024.
Third place went to Red Bull Salzburg's U17 team, who had already recorded two victories (7:2 and 2:1) against Nordic Hockey Academy from Ferlach last weekend, allowing them to win the best-of-three series for third place 2:0.
