EC Red Bull Salzburg are cham­pions of the ÖEHV U20 Inter­na­tional League after final win over KAC

After two away wins in Klagenfurt – the young Bulls won the first match 6:5 after overtime before following it up with a convincing 5:2 victory – the Salzburg side took a 2:0 lead in the final series into their first home game at the Red Bull Akademie in Liefering. In what had been an even and open contest, Salzburg took a 1:0 lead through Lukas Greil, who fired from the slot, with four minutes remaining in the first period (16.).

The hosts were dominant in the second period, but the Red Jackets stood firm alongside goalkeeper Patrick Müller and did not allow another goal. The match remained tense until Nikita Kessler made it 2:0 for Salzburg from close range (42.). When Benedikt Krainer extended the lead to 3:0 short-handed following a quick counter-attack, the third final and, with it, the championship were decided (51.).

Klagenfurt were unable to turn the game around; on the contrary, Matteo Schroth made it 4:0 on the power play to seal the win for EC Red Bull Salzburg (55.). With the sweep in the best-of-five series, EC Red Bull Salzburg are the new Austrian champions of the ÖEHV U20 International League 2024/2025, while EC KAC finish as runners-up.
