After two away defeats, Bregenzerwald made their home debut against Kitzbühel on Wednesday. Following a scoreless first period, the home side took the lead in the 29th minute: KEC goaltender Tom McCollum was screened on Philipp Pöschmann's shot.
Just four minutes later, the Tyroleans equalised when Mai Crnkic was left alone in front of goal and beat Lorenz Widhalm with his second attempt. However, the Vorarlberg side regained the lead shortly afterwards, with Pöschmann scoring at the near post on the power play. The visitors, who incurred no fewer than six penalties, tried in vain to equalise again. Bregenzerwald saw out their narrow lead to celebrate their first win of the season.
