Derbies headline the second ÖEL round

Following the start of the season, the Austrian Ice Hockey League moves into its second round on Friday and Saturday. The schedule features no fewer than four regional derbies. All six games will be shown live on RED+.

The second round of the Austrian Ice Hockey League (ÖEL) gets under way on Friday (9 October) at 19:30 with the Styrian clash between KSV Kängurus and ATSE Graz. The Kängurus began the season with a 5:2 away win at HDK Maribor and now want to follow that up in front of their home supporters. Graz suffered a narrow 1:2 overtime defeat to UEHV CAM4DENT Sharks Gmunden in their opener and are still seeking their first win of the season. All games in the round will be broadcast live on RED+.

Three games follow in Division West on Saturday (10 October). At 17:30, EHC Lustenau host HC Kufstein after their 5:0 home win against WSG Swarovski Wattens Penguins, while Kufstein lost 0:3 to Hohenems in their opener. From 18:30, Hohenems hosts the Vorarlberg derby between SC Samina Hohenems and Dornbirner Eishockey Club. Hohenems won their first game with a shutout in Kufstein, while Dornbirn lost 2:6 to Kundl in their opener. Following that victory, EHC Kundl face the Penguins from Wattens in the Tyrolean clash at 19:00.

Division East also features a regional derby on Saturday. At 18:30, UEHV CAM4DENT Sharks Gmunden, following their overtime win in Graz, take on ASKÖ Grizzlies Linz. Linz lost their first home game clearly, 0:5, against Wiener Eislauf-Verein. WEV conclude the round at 20:10 with a home game against HDK Maribor. Following their opening defeat to the Kängurus, the Slovenians will be looking to earn their first points.
