Defeats for leading duo EK Zeller Eisbären and Adler Kitzbühel in the Alps Hockey League

League leaders EK Die Zeller Eisbären suffered a narrow 5:6 defeat after a penalty shootout against HK Celje in the Alps Hockey League. Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel lost 1:5 away to KHL Sisak. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors beat the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers 5:2. EC Bregenzerwald won 4:3 away to champions Rittner Buam.

In an intense match, HK RST Pellet Celje prevailed 6:5 in the shootout against EK Die Zeller Eisbären. Philipp Putnik gave the “Eisbären” the lead with two early goals, but Celje responded promptly through Rozle Bohinc’s first goal of the season. Zeller extended their lead before Celje hit back with three quick goals, including Gal Sodja’s 3:3 equaliser. The game ended 5:5 and went to overtime, before ultimately being decided in the shootout, where Bohdan Panasenko converted the decisive penalty for Celje.

 

League newcomers KHL Sisak celebrated a convincing 5:1 victory over Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel in front of 1.800 fans. Bruno Idzan shone with a hat-trick and initially gave Sisak the lead with two goals before Alexander Maxa scored Kitzbühel’s only goal. Ivan Puzdic and Vlastimil Dostalek completed Sisak’s success, moving the team within touching distance of Kitzbühel in the standings. The two teams will face each other again in Sisak on Saturday.


In a close game, EC Bregenzerwald defeated reigning champions Rittner Buam SkyAlps 4:3. Philipp Pöschmann and Aron Summer scored their first goals of the season to put Bregenzerwald in front. After an evenly contested game, Manuel Metzler scored the decisive goal in the final period, securing important points for Bregenzerwald and increasing the gap to the bottom of the table.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors secured important points with a 5:2 win away to the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. After a scoreless opening period, the Juniors took the lead in the second period and held on to it until the end, with Adrian Gesson contributing two goals.


SIJ Acroni Jesenice won 6:2 away to HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and moved up to fourth place in the table. After taking a 3:0 lead in the second period, Jesenice extended their advantage despite a response from Gherdeina through Simon Pitschieler.
