DEBL2: SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein goes for the treble on home ice at the big Final Four!
Kitz is set for some hot ice hockey action: this year's DEBL2 Final Four is on the programme at Sportpark Kitzbühel this weekend. Defending champions and hosts SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein are going for the treble. The championship-winning team of 2024 and 2025 will face Sportunion DHC IceCats Linz AG II in the first semi-final on Saturday. Last year's runners-up, Red Angels Innsbruck, will take on VSV Lady Hawks III in the second semi-final.

For the first time since 2024, Sportpark Kitzbühel will once again host the DEBL2 Final Four. Two years ago, SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein secured the title in their home rink in the Gamsstadt with a 5:0 victory over Red Angels Innsbruck in the final derby.
Last year, the joint team from Kitzbühel and Kufstein once again lifted the championship trophy at the final tournament in Klagenfurt, this time with a 3:0 derby win over the Red Angels from the Tyrolean capital. A final derby is also possible this season, but the two Tyrolean clubs would have to win their semi-final games, as they did in each of the previous two seasons – SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein will face Sportunion DHC IceCats Linz AG II and Red Angels Innsbruck will face VSV Lady Hawks III – to do so.
Based on their performances in the regular season, the joint team from the Tyrolean lowlands enters the final home tournament as league leaders and favourites, but the Tyroleans have been warned: their only home defeat came against semi-final opponents Sportunion DHC IceCats Linz AG II on Valentine's Day, losing 2:3 in a shoot-out after leading 2:0. Away in Linz, Head Coach Claudia Wirl's team celebrated a 4:0 victory shortly before Christmas.
The record between the opponents ahead of the second semi-final is also even. VSV Lady Hawks III narrowly beat Red Angels Innsbruck 3:2 at Innsbruck's TIWAG Arena in November. In February, Innsbruck responded with a 6:4 away win in Villach. Their head-to-head record promises a thrilling Saturday, with anything possible for the teams in a decisive game.
The winners of the semi-finals will play for the DEBL2 Austrian championship in the final on Sunday from 15:30, preceded by the third-place game at 10:15. All games will be held at Sportpark Kitzbühel with free admission.
