DEBL 2: SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein face Red Angels Inns­bruck again in the final derby

Following a perfect regular season of ten wins from ten games, SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein continued their successful run in the Final Four semi-final at Klagenfurt's Heidi-Horten-Arena, claiming a comfortable 7:0 victory over hosts EC-KAC Damen II.

Sharon Hausberger (4th, 20th minute) put the Tirol side firmly on course for victory with two goals early in the first period. Exactly 20 seconds after the restart, Isabella Hochfilzer made it 3:0 for SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein (21st minute). Isabella Korunka sealed the result in the final period (46th minute). Linda Salvenmoser scored on the power play (51st minute), while Sophia Widmair added two goals within 19 seconds in the final minute to take the score to 7:0.

As in the previous year, Red Angels Innsbruck await in the final. The players from the Tirol capital finished the regular season in second place before following it up with a 6:3 semi-final victory over SPG IceCats LinzAG II/Sabres II. Mara Dax gave Innsbruck a 1:0 lead on the power play (15th minute). Four seconds after the halfway point of the game, Angelina Luger equalised at 1:1 (31st minute). The joint team had turned the game around before the end of the second period, with Ella Maierhofer scoring to make it 2:1 (37th minute). In the final period, Nina Rauch extended the Icecats/Sabres II lead to 3:1 (43rd minute).

The Tirol side used a spell of numerical superiority to launch their comeback. Kim Morawetz first made it 2:3 on a five-on-three power play (46th minute). Just 61 seconds later, Tanja Knoll equalised at 3:3 on the 5:4 power play (47th minute). Towards the end of the game, the Red Angels sealed the win with three goals in just under five minutes.

Julia Föger gave her side a 4:3 lead (54th minute), Aliena Knappe made it 5:3 (56th minute), before Julia Föger struck again (59th minute) to complete the 6:3 final score. Last year, SPG Kitzbühel/Kufstein defeated the Red Angels 5:0 in the final to claim the title.
