Czechia visit with good memo­ries of 2025

In the previous year, the Austrian national team secured a 4:3 overtime win over their neighbours in their World Championship preparations. More generally, Czechia have been regular visitors during the World Championship preparations in recent years. This Thursday, the seven-time world champions will be welcomed to the Steffl Arena in Vienna, with ORF SPORT + broadcasting live from 19:00. Tickets are available via the ÖEHV ticket shop. On Friday, Austria will travel to Jihlava for the return game, which starts at 17:00.

"Czechia have more skill than Italy did most recently, while also playing with enormous intensity and pace. That forces us to match them, and by doing so, we will improve,”Head Coach Roger Bader is confident that the team will take the next step this week.

Since 2019, Austria and Czechia have faced each other every year in their World Championship preparations, with the exception of the COVID-19 year 2020, when all games had to be cancelled.

Austria have won twice so far in the all-time record. Unforgettable are the victory at the 2022 World Championship in Tampere (FIN), as well as last year's success in Linz. They will aim to prove difficult opponents once again in the next two games.

Apart from the players from Moser Medical Graz99ers, Austria are already close to their World Championship squad. It was also confirmed at the start of this week that they will have to do without NHL-based players Marco Rossi and Marco Kasper at the 2026 World Championship.
