Cracked the 1000 mark – Stark­baum, Ganahl, Haudum, Strong, Brunner and Peeters on board

Bernhard Starkbaum (143), Steven Strong (48), Nico Brunner (35), Manuel Ganahl (124) and Lukas Haudum (87) bring the number of international appearances that takes the total in the call-up to more than 1.000. Senna Peeters joins the squad as a debutant, having already been called up for the first team camp but missing the game against Slovenia through injury. Having recovered from his issues, the 20-year-old is set to make his first appearance for the senior national team next week.

Training will take place in Deggendorf, where the team will assemble on Monday and complete four on-ice training sessions and one in the gym before the first game against Germany. The first of two meetings with our neighbours will also take place in Deggendorf. This fixture has been played 77 times, including matches against the FRG and GDR, most recently at the Deutschland Cup last November, when Austria suffered a 0:3 defeat.

The national team will play a total of six more warm-up matches before the World Championship begins against France on 13 May. Following the trip to Germany, there will be double-headers against the Czech Republic and Slovakia before the team flies to Finland on 9 May.

Head Coach Roger Bader: "We improved day by day during the most recent team camp. We are further ahead than we were a week ago, and the players are in better form too. We made progress in every respect. After the two games against Italy, we had to make selection decisions for the upcoming team camp. These are always unpleasant decisions, without question, because all the players trained and played well. In the end, it is often the small details that make the difference."
