Coro­n­avirus cluster uncov­ered

The coronavirus outbreak at NHL team the Vancouver Canucks, which now involves 25 infected players and staff, apparently originated from a single infected person. This emerges from a statement by two doctors published on the Canucks' website.

All 25 members of the North American ice hockey league club have contracted a variant of the coronavirus. It is not yet clear which one. 21 players are on the league's COVID list, though they are not necessarily infected themselves, as close contacts are also included. The Canucks last played on 24 March. All subsequent games were cancelled. The NHL had originally expected the team to be able to play again on 8 April.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (27-10-3) won 3:2 at home against the Montreal Canadies (17-10-9) in the NHL on Thursday night, recording their fifth consecutive victory. Goaltender Jack Campbell, who impressed with 28 saves, claimed his tenth straight win, setting a new franchise record among Canadians.

"Winning 10 games in a row is a great thing. After all, it is difficult enough just to celebrate a win in this top league," said Campbell after the game.
