Following the cancellation of the IIHF World Championships this year and the final qualification phase for the Olympic Winter Games 2022, planning for the restart of the 2020/21 season is the priority for the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation.
The continuation of the partnership with Roger Bader as sporting director of the men's national teams and head coach of the men's senior national team, as well as the expansion of further training opportunities for coaches through Coaches Clinics and mentoring programmes, are crucial to the positive development of Austrian ice hockey.
Bader's current contract, having taken up the position in November 2016, will be fulfilled as agreed until qualification for the Olympic Games at the end of August 2021. This Four Nations tournament against hosts Slovakia, Belarus and Poland is for a place at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022.
In addition, the successful partnership with Gerhard Schiffauer as ÖEHV Referee in Chief will be continued for the next four years.
