On Thursday, the domestic ice hockey world was shaken by the news of Patrick Obrist’s illness. The 32-year-old was diagnosed with lymph node cancer during a routine examination. According to his Swiss club EHC Olten, Obrist is now undergoing several months of treatment. “The doctors treating him assess the chances of recovery as very good, and we are convinced that Patrick Obrist will overcome this challenge too with his determination and positive strength,” explains Olten managing director Christian Roth.
Patrick Obrist only recently extended his contract with EHC Olten by three years. ÖEHV head coach Roger Bader also always keeps the centre on his radar. Most recently, Obrist pulled on the national team jersey at the Deutschland Cup 2024.
The entire ice hockey family wishes Patrick Obrist a speedy and full recovery, and his family strength and support during this difficult time.
