“Once again, we experienced a high-quality event with top speakers. This new record number makes us proud and shows that the Coaches Clinic is on the right track,” said Sporting Director Roger Bader with delight.
With Thomas Eidler, Head of ÖFB coach education, and Sven Leuenberger, Chief Sport Officer of the ZSC Lions, the current club of national team player Vinzenz Rohrer, two top speakers were once again secured for the Coaches Clinic.
“We share a certain synergy with the ÖFB. We regularly invite each other to this kind of further education and training,” explained Roger Bader, who personally oversees the selection of speakers. ÖEHV Sports Coordinator Timo Gless guided the day from an organisational perspective.
The presentation by his Swiss compatriot Sven Leuenberger was also eagerly anticipated, as he provided in-depth insights into Switzerland’s largest ice hockey club. Five million Swiss francs are available there each year for youth development alone. Including all their satellite clubs, the Lions have 1.600 youth players. Figures that left a deep impression.
Roger Bader himself gave a presentation on “Scoring goals at international level”. Andreas Brucker and Gerd Gruber were able to present their respective clubs, EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Eishockey-Akademie Steiermark.
An important part was also played by the presentation from Gerhard Schiffauer, ÖEHV Referee in Chief, and Simon Riecken, ÖEHV Officiating Coordinator, which focused on cooperation between referees and coaches.
To conclude, Florian Mühlstein, ÖEHV Head of Youth Education and Development, provided insights into the training courses he had brought back from Basel (SUI), Tampere (FIN) and Michigan (USA).
The next Coaches Clinic will take place in April 2024.
