Carinthian Steelers Klagen­furt are Para ice hockey cham­pions!

With eight wins – one of them after a penalty shoot-out – from eight head-to-head meetings in the Para championship regular season, Carinthian Steelers Klagenfurt advanced to the final against Steirische Panther at the St. Pölten ice sports centre.

The Carinthians lived up to their status as favourites in the final and took the lead through Sandro Kalegaris in the 13th minute. The Steelers extended their advantage with a quick double strike in the second period. Kai Habeler first made it 2:0 in the 26th minute, before Timo Ropp scored for 3:0 just 46 seconds later.

In the final period, Sandro Kalegaris became the man of the final with two further goals. He sealed the victory with a short-handed goal for 4:0 in the 34th minute. Kalegaris completed the 5:0 final score in the 44th minute.

With the victory, the Carinthians, for whom ÖEHV national team netminder Michael Ossimitz recorded a shutout, won the championship for the third consecutive time.
