Austrian ice hockey mourns Dr. Karl Safron

Karl Safron passed away last Friday in his 76th year following a long and serious illness. For decades, he shaped Austrian ice hockey and was a driving force both as President of EC-KAC and of the win2day ICE Hockey League. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family, friends and companions.

In 1997, Karl Safron took over as President of the record champions and led the club in this role for almost ten years. From 2009 to 2013, he served as President of what is now the win2day ICE Hockey League. He played a key role in the development towards professional ice hockey and was named Honorary President by both KAC and the league.

His ambition was always to develop and professionalise the sport further.

The Austrian ice hockey family mourns a friend and visionary. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and companions.
