Austrian Ice Hockey Feder­a­tion mourns the loss of Honorary Pres­i­dent Dr Hans Dobida

Hans Dobida was active with ATSE Graz for many years, taking up the post of ÖEHV Vice-President as early as 1962, before subsequently serving as President of the federation from 1977. He stepped down from this position in 1996 and was immediately named Honorary President of the ÖEHV.

During his time as a sports official, he was involved not only in the Ice Hockey World Championships of 1067, 1977, 1987 and 1996, but also in the Winter Olympic Games of 1964 and 1976, where, as a member of the organising committee, he helped create unforgettable Games.

In 1984, Hans Dobida was awarded the Gold Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria; in 2004, the German Ice Hockey Museum inducted him into its Hall of Fame in the Official category; and in 2007, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in the Officials category.

The Austrian ice hockey family mourns the loss of a long-standing companion and friend, and extends its deepest condolences to all those left behind.
