Austrian Cham­pi­onship in the Alps Hockey League - All the infor­ma­tion

The completed home-and-away fixtures (i.e. each team's first home and first away match) between Austrian clubs in the Alps Hockey League regular season will be taken into account and assessed in accordance with the provisions of the ALPS Hockey League Gamebook.

The two highest-placed Austrian teams after the regular season will contest the final during the IIHF break in February 2026 for the Austrian Championship title of the ALPS Hockey League 2025/2026.

As in previous years, the final will use the Champions Hockey League format, with the club placed higher in the overall table of Austrian clubs starting with the away leg. The championship will be won by the team leading on aggregate after the home and away legs.

Overtime and a penalty shoot-out can therefore only take place in the return leg if the aggregate score is tied. In this case, there will be a 10-minute sudden-death overtime period with three skaters per side on the ice. Should overtime end goalless, a shoot-out will follow, with five shooters per team.

ALPS Hockey League fixture list 2025/2026

The Alps Hockey League begins its new season on Saturday, 20 September. 13 teams will take part in the tenth season of the cross-border league, which begins then. The fixture list for the 2025/2026 season initially provides for 36 regular-season games per team. 

13 teams from Italy (7), Austria (4), Slovenia (1) and Croatia (1) will contest the anniversary season of the Alps Hockey League. The opening matchday will already see a repeat of last year's final between champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären and SIJ Acroni Jesenice. In April, the Pinzgau side secured a 4:1 series victory to become the first Austrian team to win the multinational league. 

Returning side Asiago will visit Rittner Buam SkyAlps in the opening round. There will also be a South Tyrol derby between Hockey Unterland Cavaliers and Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. EC Bregenzerwald will be the only team not in action in the opening round.

FORMAT
After the regular season, with 36 games per team, the top 5 qualify directly for the playoffs and compete in the Master Round for the best possible starting position. The remaining eight teams compete in two Qualification Round groups for a place in the pre-playoffs, where the three remaining quarter-final berths are allocated. Both the Master Round and Qualification Round are played on a home-and-away basis.

THURSDAY AND SATURDAY REMAIN THE MAIN MATCHDAYS
As in previous seasons, Thursday and Saturday will be the main matchdays of the Alps Hockey League in the upcoming campaign. For logistical and infrastructure reasons, “road trips” have again been scheduled for the forthcoming season, meaning that individual games will also be played outside the main matchdays.
