Austria’s U18 women lose 0:1 to Slovakia
In a game in which they could certainly have come off the ice as winners, Austria’s U18 women’s national team had to concede a 0:1 defeat to Slovakia. On Sunday at 14:30, live on RED+, they face hosts Germany in the final game of the Four Nations Tournament.

“Despite the defeat, we are really pleased,” reflected Head Coach Mario Bellina. His team was not short of chances. Only their finishing prevented them from securing a win. As did the Slovakians’ goal in the 25th minute.
Mario Bellina: “We implemented our system throughout the game and stuck to it. It was a consistently good performance from us, without any major ups and downs. We always stood our ground, were able to put the Slovakians under constant pressure and gradually grew into the game. The goal was a little unfortunate, but there is no blame attached. The defeat is OK for us. It is a friendly. The positive was that, when we implement what we discuss, we create really good scoring chances. However, we need to work on our scoring and make sure we get the puck into the net. Germany are next, a direct opponent at the World Championship. We will see what we can implement and what lessons we can learn from the game.”
