In a fast-paced game from the outset, play went back and forth in the first period, with only the goals missing. In the second period, Jan Popatnig, who scored his first goal for the U16 national team, gave Austria a 1:0 lead on the power play.

In the final period, Norway initially equalised on a 5:3 power play. Just under three minutes from the end, Paul Sintschnig scored the winning goal for 2:1 on the power play (57nd minute).

Head Coach Florian Mühlstein: "We scored two goals on the power play and conceded one while shorthanded. Overall, the lads played very disciplined hockey, were ready from the start and implemented what we had set out for them. There were small errors in the system, but that was also due to having some new players in the team. However, the new players, and especially the younger ones, were by no means out of their depth. On the contrary, several of them, such as Paul Sintschnig, were able to make an impact. Now it is important to recover quickly again. At the pre-game skate, we will see whether we can make a few minor adjustments, and then we will be ready for France."

The matches against France on Friday and the perennial classic against Germany on Saturday are next.
