Austria gain revenge against the Nether­lands

In front of around 1.300 spectators at the Thialf ice arena in Heerenveen, both teams produced an attractive game. Leonie Kutzer gave Austria an early 1:0 lead on the power play. As the game progressed, Austria proved highly efficient in front of the opposition goal.

After the score was 1:1 after 20 minutes, the Oranje were on top from the second period onwards, but Austria regained the lead through Anna Meixner in the 25th minute. Julie Zwarthoed equalised for the Netherlands. Anika Fazokas then surprised goalkeeper Eline Gabriele to make it 3:2 for the ÖEHV side.

Leonie Kutzer then struck for the second time – this time short-handed. Bieke van Nes reduced the deficit to 3:4, before Anika Fazokas secured victory for Austria with the 5:3 in the 53rd minute.  

Head Coach Alexander Bröms: "That was a much better game from us today than yesterday. We were in the game from the outset and really wanted this win. We played quickly and drove towards the net. A strong finish to this team camp. We are now looking forward to the next challenges and returning to our teams with a good feeling."
