Anna Meixner returns to Brynäs IF

Austria international Anna Meixner is continuing her career in Sweden. After two seasons in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), the 32-year-old is returning to Brynäs IF on a two-year contract with the Swedish SDHL club.

For Meixner, this marks a return to familiar surroundings. Before moving to North America, the captain of the Austrian women’s national team spent four seasons with Brynäs IF. In the 2022/23 season, she was named both the SDHL’s Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year.

Over the past two years, Meixner gained valuable experience in the PWHL. After her time with the Ottawa Charge, she most recently played for the Vancouver Goldeneyes. The Austrian forward is now returning to Sweden’s top women’s league. Brynäs IF is also delighted to welcome the national team player back. In the club’s announcement, General Manager Erika Grahm highlighted not only Meixner’s ability on the ice, but especially her leadership, composure and experience.

Anna Meixner has been one of the Austrian women’s national team’s leading players for many years and has represented Austria at numerous World Championships. The ÖEHV warmly congratulates Anna on this next chapter and wishes her every success in Sweden!
