Alps Hockey League: Zeller Eisbären edge Adler Kitzbühel – Red Bull Hockey Juniors new leaders

Zell am See moved into the top five with a derby win. The reigning champions beat Adler Kitzbühel 3:2 at home. The visitors took an early lead through Podlipnik, but Coffman equalised in the first period. In front of just under 2.100 fans, the home side turned the game in their favour in the middle period: new signing Tomazevic and captain Wilfan scored to make it 3:1. The Tyroleans could only manage a consolation goal.

With their fourth consecutive win, Red Bull Hockey Juniors moved to the top of the Alps Hockey League table. The Salzburg side won 3:0 in Jesenice. Oberhauser gave the visitors the lead with twelve seconds remaining in the first period. League top scorer Eliseev extended the lead to 2:0 on a two-man advantage in the second period. Jesenice threw everything forward in the final period, but Schreiner sealed the final score with the 3:0. Goaltender Ankirchner recorded his first shutout of the season.

KHL Sisak had to relinquish top spot. The fourth AHL meeting between Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the Croatians also went Sterzing's way. The home side led 3:0 after a sensational first period, but the game was far from decided. Sisak pulled within one goal in the middle period, and Malenica even equalised in the 46th minute. However, Eisendle secured the win shortly afterwards with the 4:3. With their first win after two defeats, the Broncos moved up to seventh place.

HC Migross Asiago won the traditional clash with Cortina and climbed to eighth place. Porco and Chiodo gave the home side an early 2:0 lead. Cortina pulled back to 1:2 through a power-play goal from Kris Pietroniro in the middle period. However, Asiago wrapped things up in the final period: a double strike from Porco and Magnabosco within 18 seconds proved decisive, as Asiago ultimately won 4:2.

Bottom side HC Unterland also had cause to celebrate, claiming their second win of the season on Thursday. The Cavaliers won 4:2 in Meran. Although the home side took the lead twice in the first period, Unterland equalised again in the middle period. The visitors turned the game around completely in the final period, with power-play goals from Galassiti and Galimberti securing the away win.
