Despite being without seven players, including those loaned to VSV, the Eisbären were dominant from the outset. Peter Putnik opened the scoring three minutes in after a fine combination involving Bohdan Tomazevic and Alexander Lahoda, making it 1:0. Philipp Reiner soon extended the lead to 2:0.
Zell am See remained the clearly superior side in the middle period, with Paul Schmid making it 3:0 before a convincing defensive display and five further goals in the final period sent the score soaring.
Max Wilfan and Fredrik Widen each scored into the empty net before Nathan Huard and Alexander Lahoda sealed the 7:0 final score. Zell am See not only celebrated their biggest win of the season, but also ended EC Bregenzerwald's winning streak, having won six consecutive games beforehand.
