All the infor­ma­tion on the Women's World Cham­pi­onship Divi­sion IA in Klagen­furt

"Carinthia is one of Austria's ice hockey strongholds, with two traditional clubs in the top men's league, the win2day ICE Hockey League. In the coming years, the national performance centre for women's ice hockey will also be established here. Both the city of Klagenfurt and the newly renovated Heidi Horten Arena provide ideal conditions for hosting the 2024 Women's World Championship. Our aim is to be the perfect host and generate the greatest possible attention for women's ice hockey," explains Klaus Hartmann, ÖEHV President.

Originally, as in 2023, the World Championship was to be held in Shenzhen, China. China was awarded the World Championship Division IA for three years. Due to its promotion to the Top Division in August 2023, a new host had to be found.

The ÖEHV did not hesitate for a second and was awarded the tournament on 6 October at the IIHF Congress in Portugal. Yasmin Stepina, ÖEHV Vice-President for Women's Ice Hockey: "This World Championship is an important piece of the puzzle in the further professionalisation of Austrian women's ice hockey. We are developing various projects involving both the national teams and the domestic leagues, with the aim of creating new momentum."

2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women´s World Championship 2024

From 21 to 27 April 2024, Klagenfurt will host the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women´s World Championship 2024. Austria will play Hungary, France, Norway, the Netherlands and South Korea for promotion to the Top Division. After 2009 and 2017, it is the third Women's World Championship on Austrian ice.
