At the beginning of July, the ÖEHV announced that it would be restructuring its office, with the aim of providing fresh impetus, particularly in the areas of marketing, sponsorship, event management and sales. Alexander Helwig is an almost perfect match for this requirements profile thanks to his qualifications.

The 29-year-old completed his Master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam a few years ago. In recent years, Alexander Helwig has made highly successful contributions in process optimisation and project management at Amazon, New Yorker and XXXLutz, optimising procedures, identifying growth opportunities and developing partnerships to promote growth, innovation and market leadership.

Alexander Helwig not only has a strong affinity for sport himself, but is also currently completing the Austrian Football Bundesliga's “Diplom FußballmanagerIn” course, which focuses, among other things, on club law, leadership, financing and communication.

Following the women's national team's promotion to the Top Division and the men's quarter-final appearance at the 2025 World Championship, the Carinthian takes over the federation at an absolute sporting high. The aim is to turn these successes into new, strong partnerships.

Further priorities include the successful organisation and delivery of the Austrian national teams' home games, merchandising, TV and livestreaming, as well as the strong integration of the ÖEHV's funding bodies, partners and sponsors.

Alexander Helwig, designated ÖEHV Managing Director: “I am looking forward to tackling the tasks ahead together with the entire ÖEHV team and jointly driving Austrian ice hockey forward. Taking on this responsibility is a great honour and a genuine matter of the heart for me. I would like to thank the ÖEHV Executive Committee for its trust and I can hardly wait to get started!”

Klaus Hartmann, ÖEHV President: “Our objective in recent weeks was to resolve the question of appointing a new Managing Director quickly. In Alexander Helwig, we have secured a young, committed and up-and-coming manager, whom we are convinced will seize and successfully realise the opportunities arising from the federation's sporting successes.”

A detailed interview with the new Managing Director will follow when he takes office on 1 October.
