After two home wins last weekend (7:1 and 6:5), KAC went into the third game of the best-of-five series in the Styrian capital with a 2:0 lead. The hosts made the better start, with Phileas Lyssy giving them a 1:0 lead after just under a minute and a half of play.

The young Red Jackets equalised at 17 through David Waschnig to make it 1:1. Phileas Lyssy again put Eishockey Akademie Steiermark's U17 team ahead at 22, making it 2:1. Lukas Dreier equalised for KAC at 28 to make it 2:2.

Just before the halfway point of the game, Sebastian List fired Klagenfurt into the lead for the first time that afternoon. At 35, the Carinthians added another through a shorthanded goal by Lukas Dreier.

The Styrians were able to make the game exciting once again: Paul Reiner scored the goal to make it 3:4 after just 25 seconds of the final period. Jan Golicic had the perfect response two minutes later, restoring KAC's two-goal lead.

KAC strike twice in the final period

With two goals in the space of 58 seconds, from Sebastian List to make it 6:3 and Liam Oberrauner to make it 7:3, Head Coach Oliver Oberrauner's team put themselves on the road to victory and the title. Luca Fasching pulled the Academy back to 4:7 on the power play at exactly 51, but two minutes later Samuel Haberl wrapped it up for KAC with the 8:4.

With the 8:4 victory, the Red Jackets' U17 team claimed the ÖEHV U17 League championship with a 3:0 final series win. Following the U18, U15 and U13 titles, this is the fourth youth championship for KAC's academy in the 2022/23 season.
