Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel win derby against EK Zeller Eisbären

2.855 fans created a fantastic atmosphere in Zell am See. The home side took the lead through Matt McLeod in the 15th minute. The visitors were on level terms throughout the game and equalised in the middle period: captain Hochfilzer hit Paul Schmid in the face, from where the puck went into the net – after the painful goal, it was 1:1.

The third period was only 41 seconds old when Robin Johansson put the home side ahead again, but the Adler equalised once more, with Loke Södergren scoring from distance into the far corner. Regulation time ended at 2:2, and overtime also produced no decision. Södergren ultimately secured the extra point for the visitors in the shoot-out. With the win, Kitzbühel moved up to third place and are now only three points behind Zell am See.

After Unterland had won the first two meetings of the season, Cortina were determined to claim their first win at home. However, the Cavaliers made the better start and took the lead in the fourth minute through a Davide Girardi power-play goal. Just two minutes later, though, Luca Barnabò equalised. With a quick double at the start of the middle period, the home side turned the game in their favour. In the third period, Giovanni Toffoli and Mikael Saha ultimately sealed a clear 5:1 final score. Fifth-placed Cortina thus extended their lead over Sisak to seven points.

The Croatians were beaten by HC Gröden. Sisak did take an early lead, but Simon Pitschieler equalised in the first period. In the middle period, Pitschieler gave the home side cause for celebration again, but this time the visitors responded and Carson Briere made it 2:2. The home side, who were dominant for long stretches, decided the game within a few minutes in the third period. After Brad McGowan made it 3:2, Stephan Deluca produced the next goal with a wonderful solo effort. Shortly afterwards, Pitschieler even completed his hat-trick. Gröden eventually won 6:3 and also moved off the bottom of the table.
